Modern Medicine Traditional Care
Privaram Cancer and Research Institute is the brainchild of Dr. M. Banupriya and Dr. L. Manikandan. It is widely said that ‘Necessity is the mother of invention’, it holds true for Privaram.
It was born out of a need for a safe treatment centre for cancer patients during the Coronavirus pandemic in 2021. As the virus ran amok among the general population, cancer patients found themselves in a difficult position.
On one side, they were scared to venture out to hospitals due to risk of catching the virus in their vulnerable state and on the other side when they approached a hospital for treatment there was a severe shortage of beds to treat cancer patients.
In order to make state of the art cancer care accessible to cancer patients in a safe environment, Dr Banupriya collaborated with Dr Manikandan to establish Privaram Cancer and Research Institute in Valsaravakkam, Chennai.
