Dr. M. Banupriya is a renowned oncologist practicing in Chennai for over fourteen years. She founded the Privaram Cancer and Research Institute, which provides world-class cancer care at affordable prices, and serves as a visiting consultant at various leading hospitals in the city. Dr. Banupriya graduated from the Government Medical College, Thoothkudi, where she excelled academically and actively participated in extracurricular activities and charitable work. She pursued her post-graduate studies at the prestigious Adyar Cancer Institute (WIA) in Chennai, receiving extensive training in various radiation oncology techniques. For her all-around performance as a resident during her training, she was awarded the Best Outgoing Student medal in 2014, and the Dr. MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu, honored her with the Gold Medal for the best performance in MD Radiation Oncology in the same year.

Since her undergraduate days, Dr. Banupriya has been actively involved in social service. Recognized by the Giants group in Thoothukudi, she was felicitated as Woman of the Year in 2009. During this period, she established the ‘Kalpavriksham’ trust with the aim of providing medical and financial aid to those in dire need. The trust, which began as a means to help poor patients raise funds for treatment, has now evolved into a vibrant organization that makes healthcare accessible to all sections of society, with additional emphasis on educational support and occupational rehabilitation. Countless people have benefited from this organization during their moments of crisis, earning Dr. Banupriya the Lifetime Achievement Award from Mr. GK Vasan, President of Tamil Manila Congress, on Women’s Day, March 8, 2021.

Dr. Banupriya has received numerous accolades for her work, including the Intellect Award from the World Skill Council Central Bharat Sevak Samaj on October 6, 2023, for her outstanding contribution to managing a cancer hospital. She was honored as Health Ambassador for Awareness for Life by Dr. Reddy’s Foundation for Health Education, and on April 6, 2024, International Women’s Day, she was felicitated by The Monday Charity Club, the parent organization of the Vishranthi Old Age Home, for her social service in creating cancer awareness, promoting cancer prevention, and emphasizing the importance of health. She also received the prestigious Bharat Kala Ratna Award from the United Nations International Peace Council on April 27, 2024. Additionally, on World Cancer Day, February 2, 2024, Dr. Banupriya was honored with a prestigious award at the 5th Cancer Summit and Awards held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.

As a practitioner with unmatched expertise in her field, Dr. Banupriya strives to provide ethical and high-quality healthcare. She has adopted a holistic approach in treating her patients and utilizes the latest radiation technologies with a special emphasis on patient well-being and early rehabilitation.

Dr. Banupriya is actively involved in community health initiatives, conducting numerous health camps focused on preventive care. Her work includes organizing mammogram screenings, performing Pap smears, and leading awareness talks on HPV vaccination. Through these efforts, Dr. Banu Priya is dedicated to promoting women’s health and early detection of cancer at the grassroots level.
